Kai Sotto finally gets to play in the NBA Summer League

MANILA, Philippines — Kai Sotto’s long-awaited NBA Summer League start happened on Friday when the Orlando Magic lost to the Portland Trail Blazers 88–71 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

At the start of the second quarter, Kai Sotto checked in. In 5 minutes and 37 seconds of play, he got two boards, blocked one shot, and missed one field goal.

Sotto returned to the game in the third quarter and made his first basket.

He played more in the fourth quarter and scored four more points, including a two-handed slam dunk after a teammate passed the ball to him.

In 13:23 of play, Kai Sotto scored six points, grabbed four rebounds, blocked three shots, and gave one assist. He made three out of seven shots.

The 7-foot-3 Filipino talent had been sitting on the bench for the Magic’s first three games of the tournament, which upset Filipino fans who were eager to see him play.

Orlando Magic has yet to win in the last four games.
