A 13-year NBA veteran is now the Player Development Coach for the Miami Heat

Wayne Ellington Development Coach Miami Heat

Wayne Ellington played basketball very well.

The 35-year-old helped the North Carolina Tar Heels win the NCAA Championship in 2009, and that summer, he was the 28th player picked in the NBA Draft.

He has played in the NBA for 13 years, and the Los Angeles Lakers were his team during the 2021–2022 season.

The Miami Heat said on Friday that Ellington would be joining them as a Player Development Coach.

Via The Heat: “He’s now the “Coach with the Golden Arm”⁣

@WayneEllington has officially joined the Miami HEAT staff as a Player Development Coach. Congrats, Wayne!”

In his 13 seasons in the NBA, Ellington has also played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets, Detroit Pistons, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, Cleveland Cavaliers, and New York Knicks. He spent part of three seasons with the Miami Heat.

In 770 regular season games and 11 NBA playoff games, he has averaged 8.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. He has also shot 41.0% from the field and 38.2% from three-point range.

Ellington has always been one of the best shots, so that he could be a big help to the Heat.

The Heat are coming off a season in which they were the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference and won the first three games of the NBA playoffs by beating the Milwaukee Bucks, the New York Knicks, and the Boston Celtics.

The team unfortunately suffered a defeat in Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Denver Nuggets.
