Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving has had some time to think about the season. After his team swept out of the playoffs.

Kyrie Irving said on a future edition of The ETCs with Kevin Durant’s podcast that he never felt fully adjusted to the season. After joining the Nets as a part-time player in the middle of the season.

“But I never felt like myself during the season,” Irving said (h/t Brian Lewis of the New York Post). “I generally maintain a level of progress throughout the year rather than trying to catch up with everyone who’s been playing for four or five months”. “They’ve been doing it every day since October or September,” says the narrator.

With a strong lineup headlined by Irving, Kevin Durant, and James Harden. Brookyln Nets started the 2021-22 season with hopes of challenging for an NBA championship. In October, Kyrie Irving’s dashing failed to comply with New York City’s immunization requirements, leaving him ineligible for home games.

Kyrie Irving was first sent away from the club before being allowed to rejoin in late December for away games only. Durant’s injury and Harden’s ill-fated deal for Ben Simmons, who missed the whole season, didn’t help things.

“I still had the potential to play away games,” Kyrie Irving said. “But there was no strategy in place, no vision of how it would function for our club”. “And I believe that this had a significant influence on not just myself but also many others. So [I] had no choice but to sit in that hot seat for a while and deal with it.”

Kyrie Irving is allowing to participate in home games once the inoculation confinements is changing, but the Nets never developed the chemistry needed to be a championship contender.

Kyrie Irving found the median value of 27.4 focuses, 4.4 bounce back, and 5.8 helps in 29 regular-season games. His productivity decreased to 21.3 points per game in Brooklyn’s first-round matchup against the Boston Celtics.

Kyrie Irving’s deal includes a $36.5 million player option for next season, which he said last month that he wants to exercise.
