NBA Updates PH – Big man Isaiah Mobley won the NBA 2K24 Summer League MVP award after leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 99-78 win over the Houston Rockets in the championship game. This made up for the fact that he wasn’t chosen for the all-tournament team.
Mobley said, “I try not to worry about things I can’t change.” “Does it make sense to me? No, but that’s how things are. I’d rather have the title any day.”
Isaiah Mobley had an impressive double-double in the last game in Las Vegas. He scored the game’s most points (28), grabbed the most boards (11), and had three assists, two steals, and two blocks. In his first five games in Las Vegas, the 6-foot-8 forward averaged 15.8 points, 7.8 assists, and 4.8 rebounds.
Mobley, who was picked in the second round in 2022, did well at the end of Summer League. On Sunday, he scored 23 points and made the winning shot in overtime to help the Cavaliers beat the Brooklyn Nets 102-99 and advance to the championship game.
On Monday, the Cleveland Cavaliers took control of the game early on by getting out to a 17-4 lead. Late in the first half, Houston went on a 19-4 run to cut the lead to 41-38. But the first 11 points of the second half were scored by Cleveland, giving them a 62-44 lead. After that, the game was never really close again.
The Cavaliers are 6-0 because Sam Merrill scored 27 points and made 6 of 12 3-point shots. Emoni Bates also scored 19 points for the Cavaliers.
Nate Hinton had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead Houston Rockets (5-1) in scoring. Cam Whitmore scored 14 points, Trevor Hudgins scored 13, and Fletcher Magee scored 10 points—the event MVP was chosen to be Whitmore.
This was the Cavaliers’ first Summer League championship since 2013 when the league switched to a tournament system.
