Houston Rockets

This off-season, Houston was quite busy. Houston selected Jalen Green, a future NBA star, with the second overall pick in the NBA Draft. The Rockets also acquired Alperen Sengun, a talented big man, as well as Josh Christopher, an astute scoring guard, and Usman Garuba, a rim-protecting tweener. They had a great time at the draft. The Rockets add those four guys to a squad that already features Kevin Porter Jr., a versatile guard in Eric Gordon, John Wall, and Christian Wood, a stretch four. Despite their struggles last season, Houston has put enough pieces together to “see the light at the end of the tunnel.” For a rebuilding club looking to get a lot of minutes for their young players, a starting lineup of John Wall, Jalen Green, Kevin Porter Jr., Christian Wood, and Alpern Sengun would be the most reasonable.

Houston Rockets Starting Lineup Analysis

PJ Tucker, Robert Covington, Danuel House, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook are the Rockets’ starters. Covington is a rookie who has appeared in 14 games with the Rockets. Only Tucker and Harden have made more than 60 starts this season.

Eric Gordon does not start for the Houston Rockets unless Russell Westbrook or James Harden are injured or have a night off. Gordon is deployed as a scorer off the bench, providing the Rockets with valuable depth at a time when they need need it.

Clint Capela, James Harden, Danuel House, PJ Tucker, and Russell Westbrook have been the Rockets’ most common starting lineup. Covington begins in place of Capela, who was traded near the end of the year. Tucker is the center.

PJ Tucker is the Rockets’ worst starter, owing to his usage as a minutes eater. He has the team’s third-worst player efficiency rating. He simply does not have the same worth as the other Houston starters.

The Houston Rockets’ starting center is PJ Tucker. Tucker has taken up the center position since Capela was traded. When the Rockets go to a smaller lineup, he’ll play center, so this isn’t a new position for him.
