On Saturday, Dwyane Wade was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Dwyane Wade is a legendary guard for the Miami Heat. Allen Iverson was praised by the Miami great in his speech for induction, but he shared an even more touching moment with a member of his family.
Dwyane Wade spent the last 2 1/2 minutes of his speech talking directly to his father. He said that his father made him the player he is today.
“When I would cry and say I can’t, you would make me go harder,” Dwyane Wade said in his speech. “You pushed me to limits that I didn’t know were inside of me. The hard work I put in was because I didn’t want to let you down.”
During the speech, Dwyane Wade talked about how much his father wanted him to be great, even to the point of getting kicked out of two games on the same day. The guard also said that as a dad to his kids, he tries to be like his father.
“We had the same exact dream, and we carried the same exact name,” Wade said. “To know we hustled, all the way to the Basketball Hall of Fame, is God’s will.”
Finally, Wade asked his dad to join him on stage, making a moment that NBA fans will never forget.
