The NBA season starts Tuesday, and it didn’t take long for Charles Barkley of TNT to be asked what he thought would happen in the NBA Finals.
That morning, before the season’s first game, Barkley was asked to name his favorite winner. He picked the Celtics, one of the league’s favorites, to win the 2024 NBA Finals. That was his choice.
“The one thing the Celtics were missing was a point guard. And they got probably the best point guard available,” said Barkley, referring to Jrue Holiday via Ben Golliver of the Washington Post.

Barkley said he thought the Bucks were the favorites to win after they made the huge trade for Damian Lillard, but that changed when the Celtics traded for Aaron Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis.
“If you ask me right now, I’d probably pick the Celtics to win this thing because I like the Porzingis trade,” Barkley added.
Based on preseason chances, Boston and Milwaukee are considered strong favorites to win the 2024 NBA Finals. However, Barkley said that the Celtics would win with Holiday and Porzingis on the team.
