In the NBA Summer League, two former Florida Gators men’s basketball stars were able to show off their skills. Since the summer league is over, players are starting to get more chances. Alex Fudge played for the Gators in 2022–2023. On Wednesday, he signed a two-way deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. Alex Fudge’s efforts on the court showed that he could make the right play for his team, and his defense showed that he could play in the NBA.
The Statistics
Alex Fudge played college football for two different SEC schools for two years. He played his first year of college football at LSU and then moved to UF for his second year. He scored 5.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for the Gators and made 39.7% of his shots from the field. Also, in each game, he played for 19.4 minutes.
As a Laker, Alex Fudge took part in the NBA 2K24 Summer League to show off his sports skills. He played in five games and averaged 10.4 minutes per game. He also scored 3 points and grabbed an average of 1.5 rebounds per game.
The Los Angeles Lakers liked how smart he was about basketball and how fit he was for a possible two-way defender that Los Angeles could use off the bench.
The Vision
Due to the lack of goals, this choice may seem strange to a regular basketball fan. But Alex Fudge will be joining Colin Castleton, who he played with in college. This can be good for both players because they already know how to work together because they played together in Gainesville. The Lakers general manager, Rob Pelinka, may think that both players have a lot of promise and that their coaching staff can turn them into useful role players.
LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Austin Reaves, Jared Vanderbilt, and D’Angelo Russell are all top players for the Los Angeles Lakers. Alex Fudge will benefit from playing with pros with a lot of league experience. He is expected to play for the Lakers G League team and will probably only play a few minutes in the NBA in his first year as a pro.
